For more information، visit our Arabic website، Médecins Sans Frontières France is looking for Yemeni nationals to recruit in medical department، Amran governorate for the following position: SURGEON DAILY WORKER Location: Amran Governorate – Khamer Reporting to: Medical Activity Manager Main Purpose: Organize and carry out surgical activities، ensure pre- and post-operative surgical care، in accordance with MSF policies، protocols and universal hygiene standards and in collaboration with medical staff in the emergency، intensive wards and operation theatre in order to improve patients’ health conditions

In the frame of these activities، he/she will: Coordinates the implementation of MSF clinical policies، tools، guidelines and protocols (antibiotic prophylaxis، post-operative pain management، thrombo-prophylaxis، blood transfusion etc) and recommendations (standard hygiene and sterilization rules، prevention to HIV، TB، Syphilis and Hep B exposure) in order to minimize clinical risks

Undertake pre-operative consultations، evaluating the surgical risks with the anesthetist and/or other medical staff involved، and obtaining the patient’s signed consent to operate

Carry out emergency and programmed surgical intervention following MSF protocols and policies including swab counts، ensuring appropriate use of surgical equipment and proper OT registry entry/documentation of all OT intervention

Carry out post-operative clinical care and ward rounds collaborating with the anesthetist، the Operating Theatre Nurse and ward staff or other Unit Managers to ensure compliance with MSF protocols and rational use of medicines

Attend emergency room، pediatric IPD and other departments of the hospital when required

Put in place the mass casualty plan of the hospital along with the anesthetist and the medical activity manager and run role hospital practical rehearsals، in order to ensure the continuity of the services under any circumstance Knows and helps implement the accidental blood exposure policy

Plan، evaluate، and supervise the training of the staff (emergency and the out-patient teams) in order to ensure the amount of knowledge required and to improve people diagnosing، triage، and early detection capabilities

Supports other medical teams/wards when needed (i.e. midwifes and obstetric teams in the maternity ward، etc.) Attend at 8:00am to the daily morning meeting of the hospital، providing inputs concerning his activity and to other meetings related to his activity

Ensure proper fulfillment of administrative procedures and documents (fill in of patients files، forms، statistics، data base، etc.)، and elaborate regular reporting about results، proceedings and problematic situations and cases، in order to have updated and correct information about the day-to-day activity in the project and support decision-taking

Participate and contribute in the roadmap discussion of the medical activity in the project Participate in the monthly mortality morbidity report (MMR)، trainings and relevant meeting

Ensure professional confidentiality is respected، ensure compliance with medical ethics

Inform the line manager about any problem or complication of the patients’ illness، medical error and monitor the proper functioning of the department، equipment، or material

Ensure proper documentation of medical data and filling system

Maintain good attitude and proper bedside manner towards the patient and their caretakers and the rest of the medical team

Ensure timely emergency review of patients in the department when needed/indicated.

AND SKILL

Education Essential: diploma in surgical specialty recognized by the State

Practice license as a surgeon

Experience Surgical experience as stated in surgical CV/skill form (number of independently performed surgical interventions) corresponds with the surgeries that are performed in the mission and qualification is duly certified and verified

Essential 2 years of previous experience having worked in MSF or other NGO’s and in developing countries is desirable

Languages: English and Arabic essential
