Key Responsibilities

• 20 September 2026 JOB SUMMARY Yemen Peace School Organization (YPS) is seeking a qualified Gender Specialist to provide technical guidance and support to the project team and ensure that gender equality principles are effectively integrated throughout project planning، implementation، monitoring، and evaluation

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong report-writing skills، including the ability to document success stories and change، analyse results and challenges، identify lessons learned، and develop practical recommendations

• Strong communication، facilitation، presentation، teamwork، and problem-solving skills

The Gender Specialist will contribute to the design and review of training and awareness materials، provide technical support to project activities، and ensure that interventions respond appropriately to the different needs of women، girls، men، and boys

The position will also support the integration of gender equality، protection، Do No Harm principles، and the Women، Peace and Security (WPS) agenda across project activities، while identifying and addressing gender-related risks، inequalities، discrimination، and harmful social norms.

KEY

Ensure the integration of gender perspectives، Do No Harm principles، and Women، Peace and Security principles throughout all stages of project implementation. 2

Conduct gender and context analysis to identify the different needs، gaps، barriers، and risks affecting women، girls، men، and boys، and recommend appropriate mitigation measures. 3

Review project results and indicators from a gender perspective and identify relevant gaps، challenges، and areas for improvement. 4

Provide technical advice and guidance to project staff، trainers، and target groups on gender equality، protection، Do No Harm principles، and related issues. 5

Review training and awareness materials to ensure technical accuracy، gender sensitivity، inclusiveness، and the absence of discriminatory or stereotypical messages. 6

Provide technical support to project activities، including advocacy campaigns، awareness-raising campaigns، school-based activities، and media، digital، and printed materials. 7

Promote the meaningful engagement of men and boys as allies in addressing violence against women and girls and supporting gender equality. 8

Provide technical input during the selection of project participants and support gender-sensitive implementation of project training and community activities. 9

Document success stories and evidence of change related to attitudes، behaviours، and social norms from a gender perspective. 10

Provide recommendations to improve the quality، effectiveness، and sustainability of gender-related interventions. 11

Contribute to interim and final donor reports، particularly sections related to gender outcomes and results. 12. 12

Prepare monthly reports covering activity implementation progress، results، outputs، challenges، lessons learned، and recommendations، supported by relevant photographs، documentation links، materials، and tools. 1

PROJECT-SPECIFIC

Provide technical guidance for advocacy and awareness campaigns and review approximately 60 audio-visual awareness messages developed for communities by approximately 20 targeted community influencers، bloggers، and YouTubers، ensuring that the content promotes positive attitudes toward preventing gender-based violence and does not reinforce stereotypes، discrimination، or stigma

Provide gender-related technical guidance for approximately 48 awareness activities across eight selected schools، including morning programmes، theatre activities، school competitions، and community-based activities involving school management، social workers، and secondary school students

Review approximately 2، 400 school awareness posters، as well as project visibility and communication materials such as banners and posters، to ensure that they reflect principles of equality، non-discrimination، and the rights of women and girls

Provide technical support in the selection of four women-led organizations proposing initiatives focused on ending gender-based violence، promoting legal rights، and advancing gender equality through innovative approaches such as theatre، artistic campaigns، community debates، short films، social media content، and radio broadcasting

REQUIRED

AND EXPERIENCE University degree in Social Sciences، Sociology، Social Work، or another relevant field

A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience in gender programming، protection of women and girls، gender-based violence، community development، or related programmes

Strong knowledge of gender equality، gender mainstreaming، non-discrimination، and Do No Harm principles

Ability to conduct gender and context analysis and identify gender-related gaps، needs، risks، and appropriate mitigation measures

Demonstrated ability to review training، awareness، communication، and media materials from a gender perspective and identify stereotypes، discriminatory messages، or potentially harmful content

Ability to provide technical guidance and advice to project teams، trainers، partners، and target groups on gender and protection issues

Experience in awareness-raising، advocacy، and community engagement campaigns، experience working with schools، youth، community leaders، influencers، or similar groups is an advantage

Ability to review digital، printed، and media materials to ensure consistency with gender equality، non-discrimination، and the rights of women and girls

Ability to deal professionally and sensitively with issues related to violence، discrimination، gender equality، and the rights of women and girls

Proficiency in Microsoft Office، including report preparation and presentations

Fluency in Arabic and English، both written and spoken
