The IAM is responsible for the group functions within ALFA, which consists of a subsidiary finance team, and Controls & Compliance.
Business Control Function:
Exciting and vibrant opportunities for suitably qualified and experienced persons have arisen in the Business control department for a group of medical, electrical & construction companies holding company.
General Description
The Business Control Function will be responsible for supervising different teams within the Business control department (he will build the team and the department from scratch). They will compile and implement the Group’s Business Control Plan.
Responsibilities
Compiling and implementing the approved annual Group Business Control Plan
Taking ownership of the delivery of high-quality audit work
Assessing the standard operating procedures in place.
Assessing the company’s risks and the efficacy of its risk management efforts.
Ensuring that the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes.
Evaluating Business control and making recommendations on how to improve.
Identifying shortfalls or gaps in processes.
Promoting ethics and helping identify improper conduct.
Assuring safeguards.
Investigating fraud.
Communicating the findings and recommendations.
Supervising the execution of complex parts of Business control engagements
Completing audit procedures and documentation for higher-risk areas
Providing an independent opinion on risk and control environment
Engaging management to agree on risk assessments, audit deliverables, and audit responses
Liaising with senior executives on the scope and timing of audits
Applying Business control and industry knowledge to identify key issues and value drivers when working on engagements
Coaching, training, and delegating work to junior staff where necessary
Objectively assessing a company’s IT and business processes
Assessing and identifying the company’s risks and the efficacy of its risk management efforts • Ensuring that the organization is complying with relevant laws and statutes
Evaluating Business Controls and making recommendations on how to improve
Identifying shortfalls or gaps in processes
Promoting ethics and help in identifying improper conduct
Investigating fraudulent activities

Developing Business control staff through effectively supervising, coaching, and mentoring trainees.

Qualifications and experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Auditing, Financial Management, or equivalent from a recognized University
3-5 years experience at the managerial level in Business Control, specifically relating to the above responsibilities.
Accreditation with the Institute of Business Controls or any similar professional body is an added advantage.
Internal audit experience in a public accounting firm is an added advantage.
Strong analytical and interpersonal skills, and advanced Excel skills.
Strong project management skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including presentation skills.
